Background

The North Dublin City and County Regional Drugs Task Force (RDTF) was established in 2003. It is part of ten RDTF’s. The RDTF has been assigned responsibility for ensuring the development of a co-ordinated response to tackling substance misuse in the non Local Drug Task Force (LDTF) parts of its region.

The National Drugs Strategy approach to tackling the drug problem has developed around the five pillars of supply reduction, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and research. Central to the approach has been the bringing together of key agencies – both the statutory and community/voluntary – in a planned and co-ordinated manner, to develop a range of appropriate responses to tackle problematic drug use.
